Merano High Path

Circular hike in the Texel Group Nature Park

The Merano High Path is one of South Tyrol’s most famous circular hiking trails. Covering around 100 kilometers, it leads all the way around the Texel Group Nature Park—through alpine pastures, forests, and high-alpine landscapes. The trail can be completed in several daily stages and connects the Passeier Valley with the Merano region.

Right on the Merano High Path

Pfelders is located directly on one stage of the High Path, making it an ideal starting point for day hikes or multi-day tours. Many sections are accessible from here without a long drive—ideal for anyone who wants to stay flexible or only hike individual stages.

Hiking at your own pace

Whether as a multi-day circular tour or a single stage—the Merano High Path can be planned flexibly. Especially starting from Pfelders, there are many ways to adapt the route to your own pace and personal fitness level.

Stages, duration & variations

The entire High Path is usually divided into 5 to 8 daily stages. Depending on the route and fitness level, shorter sections are also possible.

  • Total distance: approx. 100 km
  • Duration: 5–8 days
  • Altitude: approx. 1,000 – 3,000 m

If you don’t want to hike the entire loop, you can choose individual stages from Pfelders and combine them with a lift or bus.

Experience the Texel Group Nature Park

The route leads through one of South Tyrol’s most diverse landscapes. From forested slopes to high-alpine passages, the surroundings are constantly changing. With a little luck, you can also spot ibex, marmots, or eagles.

The crossing over the Eisjöchl is particularly well-known as one of the most impressive points of the entire route.

  • for experienced mountain hikers (entire route)
